Social phobia (social anxiety disorder) can make a sufferer's life much less enjoyable, many sufferers are constantly depressed. It can easily lead to other problems as well, like insomnia. So it's highly recommended to cure it. Common ways how people cure SAD are whether going to therapies or using self-help methods. It doesn't matter whether you are already working with your SAD or you just want to be around other people - groups are great for all SAD sufferers.

People with SAD are often spending most of their time alone, because fear of being judged - this is one of the most common symptoms. This is why support groups are made, in support groups the focus is not on curing SAD at all. People just do different activities together and it's usually much easier to interact with other people with social anxiety, because they can understand you much more.
